Lexus 25/8
In a new video series 25/8, The FADER and Lexus shined a spotlight on artists that share a round-the-clock commitment to make music, in face of the constantly-evolving challenges levied by the global pandemic. Honing in on the creative processes of three rising Los Angeles-based visionaries (indie-pop nonconformist Empress Of, rhythmic contortionist Duckwrth, and soul virtuoso Ant Clemons), the series conveys a message that reverberates beyond their individual stories: whatever you’re into, be fully into it.

Empress Of
Throughout her career, Lorely Rodriguez (who writes, records, produces and performs as Empress Of) has always pushed her own boundaries, crafting consistently vibrant pop hooks that stick to the bone. Rather than despair over not being able to tour her new material during the pandemic, Rodriguez used all of the newfound downtime to blaze new trails, starting her own label Major Arcana, and more.

Duckwrth
In our second episode of our new series created in partnership with Lexus, 25/8, Lee welcomes us into his home and discusses writer’s block, incorporating graphic design into his work, how he stays in motion during a stagnant time, and how he keeps going all-in even when he feels tapped out.

Ant Clemons
Over the course of the past half-decade, the Jersey-born songwriter went from working at Red Lobster, to penning lyrics for Kanye West, to performing at Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration. Happy 2 Be Here boasted collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, and Ty Dolla $ign, and earned a Grammy nomination for best R&B album, signals the league that this soul virtuoso is ready to play in.
